To create awareness among the students on the women related issues.
1.The college celebrated the International Women's Day. (IWD) The theme of the International Women's Day 2020 is- "I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Rights". The Women's Studies Cell organized few events to create awareness among students on issues of women. A colorful cultural procession was arranged under the initiative of Dr. Ranju Thakuria, HOD, Assamese. Thereafter, a street play was enacted by students demonstrating the need of life-saving techniques especially in case of women. Writer and director of the play were Dr. Binita Das, HoD, Education Department. Besides, the sixth edition of “Shrutaswini”, a wall magazine, was inaugurated by Niyati Dey, member of Assam State Commission for Women. An essay competition was also organized among the students on "Status of Women in Society: Problems and Prospects". Arati Daka, Head of Economics department conducted the competition along with her colleagues.
2) A meeting was also organised that was presided over by the principal, Dr. Hiranya Sarma. He glorified the strength of women in family and society. Niyati Dey as a resource person gave an inspiring and thought provoking lecture on "Women Empowerment". The purpose of the meeting was pertinently explained by Dr. Ripima Buzarbaruah, coordinator of IQAC. Dr. Ali Akbar Hussain, Head of English department and Dr. Bhanita Nath of Assamese department spoke on the occasion representing the Teachers Unit. Dr. Binita Baishya of Assamese department splendidly recited a poem of Dr. Ranju Thakuria, Head of Assamese Department. Winners of the Essay competition were also awarded prizes by Principal, Dr. Hiranya Sarma, Arati Deka (retd.), Head of Economics Department and Niyati Dey.
