Activities Carried out / Detail Description of the Programme

The NSS unit of Suren Das College, Hajo organised International Day of Yoga on 21st June,2021 at the College premises at 8 a.m with 17 nos. of participants, maintaining physical distancing and covid protocal. The resource person cum demonstrator Mr. Goutam Das of Sewa Bharati, Purbanchal Yoga Bibhag gave an enlightening and practical lecture on Yoga and Ashanas. The programme included Yoga demonstrations, exhibition of Yogic postures and an interactive session.

      On the occasion, a National Webinar on "Yogic practices for General wellness and Covid complications" was also organised on Google meet platform at 11 a.m. At the beginning, a keynote address was delivered by Dr. Hiranya Kr. Sarma, Principal of Suren Das College, Hajo, followed by inauguration of the webinar and it was inaugurated by Dr. Ranjan Kr. Kakati, Director of Students' Welfare and Co-ordinator, NSS Cell of Gauhati University. Renowned Yoga expert and certified Yoga professional, Mrs. Ankita Borthakur graced the occasion as the resource person. She delivered a valuable speech and spoke on how diferent ailments could be treated through Yogic therapy and how physical and mental health and fitness could be developed through Yogic practices. She exhibited various Yogic postures and displayed video prepared by her. An interactive session was also held just after her speech.

      The webinar was anchored by Mr. Rajib Das, Programme officer of NSS unit and Dr. Ripima Buzarbaruah, Co-ordinator, IQAC offered vote of thanks. Altogether 127 nos. of participants joined in the webinar and a certificate of participation was provided to each participant.
