The major objective of the Webinar was to understand the various provisions of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (RPWD), 2016 and how the academic institutions are to promote and protect the rights and dignity of people with disabilities in educational, social, legal, economic, cultural and political spheres. The other objectives of the webinar was to prepare our institution for implementation of provisions of the ACT.
Webinar on RPWD Act, 2016 & NEP, 2020: A Great Challenge to the Academic Institutions was Organised by the IQAC, Suren Das College, Hajo in Collaboration with Indian Institute of Research and Development for Differently Abled (IIRDDA). The Webinar started at 11:30 a.m and lasted for more than two hours till 2:00 p.m. Principal of the college, Dr. Hiranya Kumar Sarma, inaugurated the Webinar with a welcome address. Dr. Ramani Barman Managing Director, IIRDDA, Ex Joint Registrar, GU, graced the occasion as the first Resource Person. Dr. Dipankar Barman, Asstt. Prof., Department of Political Science, Bapuji Mahavidyalya, Sarthebari, Barpeta who is a physically challenged person graced the occasion as the second Resource Person. Meu Amoeba Oasis, IIRDD, graced the occasion as Sign Language Interpreter. The convenors of the webinar were Convenor- Dr. Ripima Buzarbaruah, Coordinator, IQAC, Mridula Devi, Asstt. Prof., Computer Department, Ranjan Deka, Asstt. Prof., Computer Department of Suren Das College; Dhan Bahadur Chetry, Asstt. Prof., Education Department, IIRDDA and Sneha Das of I/C, IIRDD. Mr. Ranjan Deka moderated the sessions.
