On 30th November, the Red Ribbon Club and the Assamese Department of Suren Das College, Hajo, collaboratively organized a painting and Rangoli competition among students to commemorate World AIDS Day. The event aimed to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, emphasizing the importance of prevention and care.

The program began with a lecture delivered by Dr. Rahul Kuli, Coordinator of the Red Ribbon Club. In his insightful address, Dr. R. Kuli highlighted the alarming rise in HIV/AIDS cases globally and locally. He emphasized the need for collective efforts in combating the stigma associated with the disease and urged students to adopt precautionary measures and spread awareness in their communities.

The event saw enthusiastic participation, with a total of 30 students showcasing their creativity through painting and rangoli designs. Their artworks reflected themes related to AIDS awareness, prevention, and support for individuals living with HIV.

 

Approximately 100 students and faculty members attended the event, making it a highly engaging and successful initiative. The program concluded with an appreciation for the participants and a renewed commitment to spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS within and beyond the college community. Such initiatives are instrumental in educating young minds and fostering a sense of responsibility towards pressing social and health issues.

On 20th June 2023, the Departments of Assamese and History, in collaboration with the NSS unit, observed 'Rabha Divas' on the occasion of the death anniversary of Bishnu Prasad Rabha. Dr. Amulya Kalita from the Department of History and Dr. Ramen Medhi from the Department of Political Science delivered lectures on the philosophy of Bishnu Prasad Rabha. Students also performed cultural programmes.

The visit included a group of 35 students, accompanied by five faculty members. During the tour, the students collected data on the language, literature, and culture of the Rabha tribe at Jimirigaon.

বিশ্ব পৰিৱেশ দিৱসৰ সৈতে সংগতি ৰাখি 'কেৱল এখনেই পৃথিৱী' (Only one Earth) মূল বিষয়ক সৰোগত কৰি হাজোৰ সুৰেন দাস মহাবিদ্যালয়ত পালিত সপ্তাহজোৰা বিভিন্ন কাৰ্যসূচীৰ অংশ হিচাপে আজি ০৭ জুন,২০২২ তাৰিখে অসমীয়া বিভাগৰ সাহিত্য চ'ৰাৰ উদ্যোগত ছাত্ৰ-ছাত্ৰীৰ মাজত এখনি পৰিৱেশ বিষয়ক কবিতা আবৃত্তি অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয় । উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানটো সঞ্চালনা কৰে বিভাগীয় প্ৰধান Dr. Ranju Thakuria ই । উদ্দেশ্য ব্যাখ্যাৰ লগতে কবিতা আবৃত্তিৰে অনুষ্ঠানৰ আৰম্ভণি কৰে বিভাগৰে সহকাৰী অধ্যাপিকা ড° ভনিতা নাথে । ছাত্ৰ-ছাত্ৰীসকলে পৰিৱেশ আৰু প্ৰকৃতি বিষয়ক কবিতা আবৃত্তিৰে উপস্থিত সকলোৰে মাজত পৰিৱেশ বিষয়ক সজাগতা সৃষ্টিৰ প্ৰয়াস কৰে । অনুষ্ঠানৰ শেষৰফালে বিভাগৰে সহকাৰী অধ্যাপিকা ড° বিনীতা বৈশ্য‌ই নৱকান্ত বৰুৱাৰ কবিতা আৰু Dr. Ranju Thakuria ই স্ব-ৰচিত কবিতা আবৃত্তিৰে ছাত্ৰ-ছাত্ৰীক আপ্লুত কৰে । শেষত চুমি কাথাৰে শলাগৰ শৰাই আগবঢ়াই অনুষ্ঠানৰ সামৰণি কৰে । অনুষ্ঠানটোৰ পৰিচালনত বিশেষ তদাৰক কৰে বিভাগৰে সহকাৰী অধ্যাপক ৰাহুল কুলিয়ে । অৰ্থনীতি বিভাগৰ চয়নিকা গোস্বামী, বন্দিতা ডেকাৰ উপস্থিতিয়ে অনুষ্ঠানটো সাফল্যমণ্ডিত হোৱাত সহায় কৰে ।

The programme was presided over by Dr Mina Kumari Das, HoD of the Assamese Department, B.C.M. College, Ramdia. An Inaugural speech was delivered by the principal Dr H. K. Sarma sir of Suren Das College, Hajo. Dr. Ali akbar Hussain (Vice Principal) and Departmental faculties of both colleges were present in the programme and delivered their lectures to encourage the students.Students of Assamese departments from both the colleges exchanged their knowledge and skills through various activities like poem recitation, song, dance, speech, seminar presentation etc.

An Inaugural speech was delivered by the principal Dr H. K. Sarma sir of Suren Das College, Hajo. Two Respected resource persons were invited to the webinar, Dr. K. Saikia (President of Asam Sahitya Sabha) and Mr. H. Gogoi (Editor-Swarnalipi magazine).Almost 800 members from different colleges and universities have participated in the webinar.
