Introduction

1.

The Department of Computer Science & Application  of the Suren Das College, Hajo, since its commencement, has been giving utmost priority to encourage the youths of the greater Hajo and its adjoining areas to create employment generating computer oriented courses because today most of the job placement areas such as industries, offices, work stations, school etc. prefer a candidate having minimum knowledge in computer. Realizing the fact, the College intended to open the PGDCA , BCA and BA(Computer Application ). Department has started the PGDCA course along with courses like Skill base training programs such as web design and so on.

The department maintains one full fledged computer laboratories which are well equipped with the following computing equipments and supporting tools. All PCs in both the laboratories are connected with LAN/Wifi and high speed  Internet connections.

   Course duration: 3 year - 6 semesters.

Eligibility: The candidate must have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent level examination from Science/Commerce/Arts Stream.  Students completing Diploma in CSE/IT from AICTE recognized institutes are also eligible for taking admission.

Course break-up

Total mark assigned for each theory/practical paper of credit 6 is 100 and that of credit 3 is 50. Total mark for minor project in semester IV is 100 and for major project in semester 6 is 300. For elective papers the L-T-P-C pattern is given individually.

Continuous Internal Assessment / Evaluation (CIA/CIE)

Before the commencement of the academic year, the Institution prepares and publishes ‘Academic calendar’ containing the relevant information regarding the teaching learning schedule (working days), various events to be organized, holidays, dates of internal examination , semester examination etc. The academic calendar is prepared so that teachers should know all the activities regarding continuous internal evaluation process and it is also published on website of the college and displayed in the office.

The students’ academic progress is monitored regularly by adopting the strategy of continuous internal evaluation, project work, Laboratory assessment,unit test and semester examinations. The review of internal assessment is taken regularly. For the implementation of Internal Assessment Process, Examination committee is formed at the college level which monitor overall internal assessment process.
