The Alumni Meet was conducted on 28/12/2021 from 11 a.m. onwards in order to inspire the current batch of students, and also to build an atmosphere of codiality between the students and the teachers. The session was inaugurated by the Principal of the College, Dr. Hiranya Kumar Sarma, followed by a brief talk by Sri Biswajit Kalita, Asst. professor. in English. Dr. Ali Akbar Hussain, HoD of the Department of English conducted the session as Chairperson.
The successful Alumni of the Department who are currently pursuing higher education and engaged in various professions addressed the current batch of students and informed them of various avenues which they might choose to pursue.
The interaction session between the alumni and the current batch of students became lively, as they shared a lot of common intrest. The session concluded with vote of thanks.

The Department of English was a joint collaborator in the counselling programme on "Be Bold Against Mental and Physical Harassment" which was organized under the auspices of Gender Sensitization Cell Against Sexual Harrasment on 23.12.2021. Other Collaborators of the programme were various departments of arts stream, Computer Science and B.voc. Mrs. Bharati Medhi was the host of the programme and said the purpose of the Counselling session, followed by the speech of the resource Person, Dr. Binita Das, HoD, Education Department, Suren Das College, Hajo. Dr. Das spoke on many forms of sexual harrasment which are usually accepeted by the girls as normal behaviour of the exploiter. Dr. Trikha Rani Das, Assistant Professor in History, Suren Das College, Hajo was the second Resource Person who spoke on how the students across the genders who face such forms of sexual harrasment need to be vocal and articulating. Dr. Trikha Das also spoke on some IPC which are relevant to resist sexual harrasment. The metting concluded with vote of thanks given by co-ordinator of geneder sensitization cell, mrs. Bharati Medhi, Assistant professor in Geography, Suren Das College, Hajo.

The day-long Idea Exchange Programme was joint initiative of the English Department of the four colleges, viz
1. Suren Das College, Hajo, Kamrup, Assam
2. Damdama College, Damdama, Kamrup, Assam
3. Saraighat College, Changsari, Kamrup, Assam
4. Binadi Chandra Medhi College, Changsari, Kamrup, Assam
The programme was hosted by the English Department of Suren Das College, Hajo. Dr. Debajani Das, HoD, Saraighat College, Changsari chaired the pre-lunch session programme. Mr. Biswajit Kalita, Asst. Prof in English, Suren Das College Hajo said the purpose of the event followed by welcome address given by Dr. Ali Akbar Hussain, HoD, English Dept. Suren Das College, Hajo. Dr. Hiranya Kumar Sarma, Principal, Suren Das College, Hajo, graced the occassion as inaugurator. Thereafter, the students of all the four colleges presented papers on various topics pertaining to UGCBCS curriculum. A total of twenty eight number students and four number of teachers presented papers.
During the post-luch session, the faculty-members also discussed the UGCBCS syllabus and the teaching methodologies adopted for various units of the curriculum etc. Students also participated in this session and gave their views on TL & Evaluation methodolgies. It was resolved to organise more joint programmes for welfare and skill enhancement of the students and the teachers. The programme concluded at 4 p.m.with vote of thanks given by Dr. rupanjali Hazarika, Asst. prof. in English, Suren Das College, Hajo.

After a week long efforts, the students of English Department prepared the Wall Magazine of the Department entitiled Reflections. The Wall magazine was inaugurated by Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, Prof (Dr.) Pratap Jyoti Handique on 25.02.2021.

The competiton was organised by the Department of English, Suren Das College, Hajo on................The students were requested to submit their essays on the topic. A total of .................number of essays were received which were evaluated by the faculty members of the college. The following students shined as-

2nd position: Chittaranjan Kalita (B.Sc 1st Sem, Roll No 152)
