Introduction

The Department of Mathematics, Suren Das College, Hajo was started with UG courses in Arts in the year 2000. The College got the  permission from Gauhati University to introduce Mathematics as General course in UG level in the year 2002 and the subject got Govt. concurrence in the year 2004. In 2018, the B.Sc. Mathematics programme was introduced in the department. The department has been offering B.Sc. Programme in Honours and Regular Courses. The syllabus of the programmes provides training in diverse Mathematical disciplines. Specially the students of honours courses in Mathematics are trained in different mathematical, logical as well as computational skills. They are also skilled in different computer programming Languages and mathematical softwares to face the compititive world.

The department of Mathematics, Suren Das College, Hajo comprises highly qualified and dedicated faculty members having specialization in diverse areas of mathematics. Apart from teaching, the teachers are constanly engaged in research activities and updating themselves with recent advances in the area.

CIE of Dept. of Mathematics

For CIE, specially in our department we conduct two class tests, Assignment/presentation  per course in a semester.

We categorize advanced learners and slow learners from the students on the basis of their Mark's obtained in the 1st class test.

Measures Taken For Improving Academic Performance of Weak students/slowlearners-

1. Tutorial/Remedial classes are conducted to help the weak students.

2. Extra Assignments are given to these students.

Special Activities are conducted For Advanced Learners:-

1. Presentation on some special/advanced topic by students.

2. Encourage to participate in various Symposium like MTTS,Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme.
