Introduction

WELCOME TO DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

The Department of Botany, Suren Das College was started in the year 2018, which was then provincialized in 2020 by the Govt. of Assam. The Department has been offering BSc. program in Botany. The Department also prepares the students for a diverse and changing world to contribute to a environmentally aware and scientifically literate society through teaching and by igniting and nurturing passion, in the study of Botany and life sciences. As a newly established department, the faculty members always seek to inculcate the importance of basic sciences and mould the students into a competent scientific professional.

Mission & Vision

Mission of Botany Department

The mission of the Botany Department is to foster an environment of excellence by attracting and supporting outstanding students, faculty, and staff, by applying conventional as well as non-conventional tools to understand plant processes, and by developing human resources with hands-on experience in the frontier areas of plant sciences. Our Department focuses on the patterns and processes that enable predictive understanding of plants and their environments at the local, regional, and global scales, resulting in strengths in ecology, evolution, and systematics that are socially relevant.

Vision of Botany Department

The continued well being of common man and making a center of excellence for plant sciences.
